The Executive Management Committee comprises of the Chief Executive, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officers and Chief Officers of the Human Resources and Legal functions. The Chief Executive is the Chairman of the Committee.
Asif Jooma
Chief Executive
Asif Jooma started his career in the corporate sector with Lucky Core Industries Limited in 1983, and has over 30 years of extensive experience in senior commercial and leadership roles. Following his early years with Lucky Core Industries Limited and subsequently Pakistan PTA Limited, Mr Jooma was appointed Managing Director of Abbott Laboratories Pakistan Limited in 2007. After serving there for nearly six years, he returned to Lucky Core Industries Limited as Chief Executive in February 2013.
A Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Economics from Boston University, Mr Jooma has previously served as President of the American Business Council, President of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) and Chairman of the Pharma Bureau. He has also served as a Director on NIB Bank Limited, Engro Fertilizers Limited and Executive Committee member of Board of Investment (BOI) – Government of Pakistan. Mr Jooma serves on the Board of Systems Limited and Pakistan Tobacco Company, and is the Chief Executive of NutriCo Pakistan Private Limited as well.
He is on the Board of Governors of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and is also a Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards Programme. Previously, he has also served on the Board of Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVSAA). Mr Jooma has attended Executive Development Programmes at INSEAD and Harvard Business School.
Atif Aboobukar
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Atif Aboobukar is the Chief Financial Officer. Since joining in 2015, Atif has played a pivotal role in transforming the Corporate Finance function at Lucky Core Industries.
Atif’s corporate career spans over 15 years, with expertise in all areas of Finance including Management Reporting, Budgeting, Risk Management, Treasury and Taxation. Prior to joining Lucky Core Industries, Atif was CFO at S. C Johnson & Sons of Pakistan (Private) Limited and has held multiple positions at Engro Corp.
Atif is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
Laila Bhatia Bawany
Chief Legal Officer & Company Secretary
Laila Bhatia Bawany is the Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary at Lucky Core Industries Limited. She joined as Legal Counsel in 2016 and since then, has been actively involved in the day-to-day operational matters and strategic decisions of the Company.
Prior to this, Laila has worked at reputable law firms and as in-house counsel as well, including her time as Legal Manager of The Hub Power Company and Company Secretary of one of its subsidiaries.
A Barrister at Law from BPP Law School, London, Laila completed her LLB from the University of Birmingham and also has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from Babson College, Massachusetts, USA. In addition to this, she holds a Certificate of Director Education from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance.
Rizwan Afzal Chaudhry
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER POLYESTER BUSINESS
Rizwan Afzal Chaudhry is the Chief Operating Officer of the Polyester Business. With expertise across both technical and commercial domains, his career spans 27 years and is marked by robust leadership and strategic management.
He commenced his journey with Lucky Core Industries Limited in 1996, within the Polyester Technical Department. Since then, he has navigated through roles across multiple businesses of the Company, including National Sales Manager, Marketing and Technical Manager, Business Manager, Commercial Manager, and Vice President Commercial. Throughout his career, he has consistently delivered value to stakeholders.
Beyond his professional endeavours, Rizwan has represented Pakistan's Polyester Fibre Industry on the global stage. Moreover, he has regularly presented at international forums such as the Asian Chemical Fibres Industries Federation (ACFIF), and the China International Man-made fibres Conference (CIMFC).
Rizwan holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Textile Technology from the University of Bolton, England, and an Executive MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). His academic accolades include a prestigious Gold medal and placement on the Dean’s honour list.
Muhammad Umar Mushtaq
Chief Operating Officer Soda Ash Business
Umar Mushtaq is the Chief Operating Officer of the Soda Ash Business. With a career spanning over three decades, Umar has garnered extensive expertise in navigating the complexities of large-scale plant operations and adeptly managing large teams.
Umar commenced his professional journey at LCI in December 1999 as a Shift Manager for the Soda Ash Business. Since then he has held multiple roles within the Business, including those in the HSE, Plant, Production and Operations functions. During his tenure at LCI, he has spearheaded significant capital and plant expansion projects, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and capacity across multiple product lines, as well as initiatives aimed at securing the Business’s long-term sustainability and growth. Prior to joining Lucky Core Industries, Umar was associated with the National Fertilizer Corporation and Packages Limited. He also serves as a member of the Industrial Advisory Board at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI).
Beyond his professional commitments, Umar remains deeply engaged in corporate social responsibility endeavours, driving initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of the Khewra community. These include spearheading multiple environmental and community healthcare initiatives and supporting youth and women’s empowerment projects.
Umar holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, and an MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He has also attained a high-performance leadership certification from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) campus in Singapore.
Nauman Shahid Afzal
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER CHEMICALS & AGRI SCIENCES BUSINESS
Nauman Shahid Afzal is the Chief Operating Officer of Chemicals & Agri Sciences Business, with over 29 years of strong leadership and strategic management experience in commercial and manufacturing areas. He joined Lucky Core Industries as the Chief Operating Officer of the Polyester Business in 2019. Under his leadership, the business delivered record top and bottom-line results and launched innovative new products like the first traceable, recycled staple fibre in Pakistan.
Nauman's career trajectory commenced with Procter & Gamble Pakistan, where he honed his skills in manufacturing and ascended through various senior supply chain and customer service roles over a 14-year tenure. His professional journey took him across diverse geographies including Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Romania, enriching his global perspective.
In 2008, Nauman made a move to Reckitt Benckiser in Dubai, assuming the role of Regional Supply Chain Director. Here, he oversaw the supply operations for over 26 countries in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region. Transitioning to British American Tobacco in 2013, he served as the Head of Manufacturing and later assumed the responsibility as Area Head of Supply Chain Services.
Nauman's versatility extended to TCS, where he took on the role of Country Head for their Corporate Business, managing the complete P&L for a diverse portfolio of key accounts and SMEs. This role positioned him at the forefront of the largest logistics company in Pakistan.
Nauman holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California – Los Angeles, USA and a Bachelor’s Degree from Imperial College of Science & Technology, London.
Atif Idrees Siddiqui
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER - PHARMACEUTICALS BUSINESS
Atif I. Siddiqui is the Chief Operating Officer of the Pharmaceuticals Business at Lucky Core Industries Limited. Possessing over 26 years of senior managerial experience, Atif is a seasoned professional in the pharmaceutical, general healthcare and nutrition industry and has served in diverse roles both in Pakistan and abroad.
He started his career as a Territory Manager in 1997 with Abbott Laboratories Pakistan Limited. In 1999, he joined Knoll Pharmaceuticals Limited as a Product Manager. Later in 2002, he rejoined Abbott Laboratories Pakistan Limited in the capacity of Group Product Manager, and in 2008, he was appointed the Franchise Manager for the same company. In January 2010, he became the Business Unit Head – EDP Consumer at Abbott, and in February 2012, he was appointed the Global Brand Manager – Primary Care EPD for Abbott based out of their Head Quarter in Switzerland. In 2015, he returned to Pakistan and joined NutriCo Pakistan (Pvt) Limited (JV between ICI Pakistan and Morinaga Japan) as General Manager Marketing and Sales. In June 2019, he joined CCL Pharmaceuticals, where his last position was President and CEO.
Atif holds an MBA degree and has completed his MDP / ELP from the Macquarie Business School of Management, Australia. In addition to this, he has received executive education from INSEAD, France, and Kellogg School of Management, US.
